Expectations & Surprises
The Crepe Myrtle is blooming a little ahead of what I know her schedule to be.
The bark begins to peel right before the buds emerge.
This signals the growth of the tree and the coming blooms.
I noticed she had begun to peel about 5 to 7 days ago.
She's relatively large and quite happy in her spot between the houses on the East.
I was very pleased to discover her there after I moved in.

...And now for a little game!
Can anyone identify this plant?I have two growing in the front flowerbed with the Greenmound Juniper and one in the kettle in back with the Pink Skullcap. They are all volunteers & I haven't a clue what they are or even where to start in identification. Thought I'd give my fellow Xangan Gardeners a chance at the prize before I take a cutting to the local greenhouse this weekend.

I'm not sure about the plant. Looks like a sumac, but the leaves seem too shiny. Does it flower?

Hi!
I'm not a "gardener" not even close… but I've seen several plants just like yours. There are trees and the reason they appear in the strangest places is that seeds easily fly!
If it's that the case, the tree is handsome! :sunny:

Well, I am pretty sure that it is a tree, and my guess would be walnut or possibly some kind of ash. I could be way off, however. :sunny:

I love trees. Your pics rock!
Trees are wonderful. Tall and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
no. darkness is good. it's quiet. it's true.
oooh...okay... I think possibly a black walnut? I have a few of those and I am constantly pulling up the 'mini trees' that they create in the yard. They are very stealthy!!!

I don't think it's a honey locust because the tips of the leaves are too pointy on your tree...
That Myrtle - she's such a drama queen!
