For Cripe’s Sake, Make Up Your Minds Already!
Gay marriage has become the new Black President. Apparently we can’t vote for both in the same election! When do we stop waffling back & forth about the right to express commitment, love and joint filing for taxes? Honestly, we are in the winter of 2008 and people can’t agree on such a simple act of equality? It boggles my mind to think that we have come so far and yet we are still so very far away. The really ironic thing is when you get down to the basics of it, how is this fight any different than any of the others we have won? It will happen & we have the “yes we can” attitude to prove it!

I agree. Although, I am also just so glad Palin isn't VP because I think we would have been thrown back quite a bit.

I had a thought this afternoon that perhaps we need to start talking about marriage in less romantic terms. Go back to the "good old days" that were the way things were for a thousand years of dark ages and say that you can love whom you want, marriage is about property. I've heard that with the whole rest of this election, the Prop 8 thing was subject to outrageous ads that were misrepresentations, lies, and scare tactics mixed in with trying to get people so confused that they thought voting "yes" meant you were in favor of gay marriage. It's a weird year.

Everyone deserves their happy ending. I just wish the fighting would stop.
Sometimes, I think there are only two things people cling to the most dearly, their own prejudice and their money. Love and commitment to love as an equal desire and right for each of us is a concept that prejudicial fundamentalists with money cannot comprehend.
How insane the world.

I wish progress on this front was going faster -- or going forward AT ALL, given the setbacks recently in California and Florida -- but I do sense that gay rights will continue to be an issue until resolved in the way that we want.
