Magnolia Update
A fellow gardening neighbor gave me this Magnolia back in April & she has doubled in size since I transplanted her into this wooden tub 3 & 1/2 months ago!
They are slow growers and she won't be a sizable tree or bloom for many years to come but for me a Southern garden is just not complete without one!
A Bright Light
She asked what I was drinking & the night began
Dark intoxicating ringlets of hair and precise brows that scream Scarlett O'Hara come lately.
She understands the words, flowers and music that others dismiss or do not comprehend.
I have no idea where this will go but I am on the path and ready to see where the journey leads!
M83-Run With Flowers
Sofa King Tired (Of Being Alone) I’ve come to the realization that I’m a HUGE jackass! I put my life on hold for a dream & most of what I had going for me is long gone. Aside from a handful of friends, my social life is non-existent. The last time I was in a real, day to day, wake up with & go to bed with relationship was 2002! Ok, I know some of you want to insert groans and expletives here because you’d KILL to have some alone time. Trust me, six years of it has caught up with me and I will gladly trade some of your chaos for some of my quiet. It’s Summer and there should be screaming children running in circles and friends-a-go-go. There should be grilling, clubbing, chatting & dancing. I’m an all around Renaissance woman & it’s about the whole experience. Problem is I am so rusty that I’m not sure if I know how to be anything but alone. Not to mention the fact that I’m older…no wait…make that more mature. I know there are other women out there who want good conversation, hearty laughter and honest connections. I know it’s not going to happen overnight, but the time for RnBoW House to be open for entertainment and life is on the horizon.

Four Months
Time for another Chinese Parasol update!
She's a little droopy due to the dry July heat but her canopy is starting to take shape.
Seven tiers of leaves now since March 15th.

Starters vs Seeds
Here's a little garden lesson in how sometimes
things don't turn out the way you expect them to!
Portulaca is one of my favorites, easy to grow & maintain.
This year I bought some in starter pots and some seeds
& planted them the same day.
Here is the comparison:
From starter pot
From Seed
The blooms on the plants from seeds are the size of half dollars compared to the quarter sized blooms of the starter pot plants! Next year I will be growing these strictly from seed!
