  • “What # Do You Crave?”

Johnnie’s Charcoal Broiler opened in 1971 & going

there is one of my earliest memories.

It’s a must have whenever I am in OKC!

#8=Cheeseburger with mayo, lettuce & tomato.

    Simple & tasty!

This one has always been my number!

Small order of onion rings that I sometimes wake up thinking about!

If you order the regular size, be prepared for a mountain!

  • Another One Gone

    Sissy

She was Dad’s dog for 13 years.

I brought her home with me.

    She made it four weeks.

Life without him and the daily routine they

formed together proved to be more than a little grey dog could bear.

Yesterday morning she went to be with him.

Somewhere they are out for a walk & that’s what keeps my heart from breaking.

  • Made In Rain

Over the last five days, over 13 inches of rain have fallen at RnBoW House!

The garden is waking up again!

    Rain Lily

These are little wildflowers that spring up whenever there is enough rainfall to saturate the soil. They are popping up everywhere in my neighborhood including the medians! This one is in a grouping of four just off the back deck.

    Flamingo Flower Anthurium

The cooler temps and humidity create the perfect climate for this tropical. I’ll have to bring it inside this winter but for now she is very happy in the shade on the back porch.

    Zinnia

This should have been dead headed long ago but because of the continual rain fall since Thursday I have not been able to tend the garden as needed. The seeds decided to sprout anyway & now I have new Zinna growth coming from the old bloom! Sometimes a seed is a very determined thing!

  • Light Gone Out

He made it to my 38th birthday on the 16th.

He made it to see friends & say unpredicted goodbyes on the 22nd & 23rd.

He made it to the 24th.

The 26th would have been the anniversary of his aspiration and collapse.

That is the day I chose for friends and family to gather and remember.

Yes, it’s been awhile since I posted and certainly

quite some time since the last Princess pics!

Some of you have been dropping by The RnBoW Spot since she was born.

For you new folks, she is my 4 &1/2 year old niece.

She is the apple of everyone’s eye & growing like a weed!

  • Glad Tidings

    Gladiolus

These are new to the garden as I have never tried to grow them before.

They are the gift that keeps on giving to SuperHotSexyGF.

She adores Glads & I adore her, so it’s not hard to do that gardening math!

Here’s a long shot of the bed they call home across the front right hand side of the house.

I planted 85 bulk bulbs & this is what the batch turned out. Next season I will hand pick colors to place in between these once I know what I have now.

  • 365 Equals 180

At first I wasn’t sure what to say or how to express the pain & hurt. That filtered into anger & words reflected that with epic precision. I had poured so much energy into a dead dream that made everything feel empty & pointless. The ironic thing is, I got what I asked for. Last April I stopped asking the universe for vague generalities & started a list of specifics that became something of a daily mantra. I was looking for answers to moving my current relationship forward. Instead my questions allowed for the receipt of information in May which led me to end what had become a lie. Even in the face of what felt like the worst thing that had ever happened to me, I vowed to pull myself up & move on to the something better that was waiting. A few weeks later, I was presented with a bright light. She seemed to be the genuine article & very much what I had been asking for in my life. It felt like it was way too soon, but I stepped forward cautiously into it with the faith that it was for a reason. There were so many commonalities it felt wrong to walk away out of fear. So I tentatively moved forward with each day continuing to include her in them. We began to fall into place as though it was the plan all along & perhaps it was. I think sometimes we must see the worst to be able to understand what the best can be. Almost a year later, we are still together. She lives here at RnBoW house now & we are building a life, a home. I wrote one year ago today that I was of the good and right. That one day I would be in the pot at the end of the rainbow. That day has most certainly come!

  • Where the Green Things Are

This is a long shot of the Northeast fence in the back corner where I

have been very busy this spring adding new things.

The Mammoth Elephant Ears are coming along and

will fill the entire length & height of fence shown above.

Dead Nettle at the feet of the Elephant ears will add color and texture to the area.

Just to the left of the back gate there is a very happy Rice Paper Plant.

This is a return player that I was glad to see made it through the unpredictable

temperature changes we’ve had the last 6 to 8 weeks.

Calla Lilies along the back fence.

This is their second season & I’m quite surprised by their heartiness.

I made no special provisions for the bulbs and were quite close to the surface

until I put a new layer of hardwood mulch over the area a few weeks ago.

They are much later than last year but here they are!

We’ll see in a few weeks if they manage to bloom.

Cosmos along the stone path coming off the patio.

These are coming up from last year’s seeds & I’m pleased to

have them flanking the end of the path again this season.

Ornamental Milkweed in a pot on the deck.

This is a return player as well, that recieved no special winter treatments.

I just pruned it back to an inch of stalk above the soil and left the pot on the deck

exposed to the elements. She is well on her way to another spectacular showing.
