  • Spring Is Coming

    Heirloom Daffodils

The regulars here at the RnBoW Spot will remember I had some surprise residents that were planted around the base of the old Mulberry that appeared after I had the tree cut down November 2007. They didn't bloom last year but I'm hoping they will this year since they got a full season of sun & fertilizing. They are breaking the surface now since the winter is so mild here in Texas. Let's all cross our fingers & maybe we'll see some pretty blooms awaken!

These were a Christmas gift & I got them in the ground last Friday.

They may not produce much this season but they will be a welcome early

  • Reflection on 2008

Ten days away from a new year & I am pausing to reflect on what has occurred over the last 355 days. In retrospect, I’d have to say that most the year was pretty great. Don’t get me wrong, there have been a few bumps in the road. Dad was diagnosed with ALS, I had to wait just over a year to become permanently employed again & I found out the woman I loved was a liar & a cheat. However, there was always a way to find a silver lining in the bad. There was patience to outweigh the angst. Dad is as well as can be expected. By the grace of God, Buddha & all the other deities, he is still alive when the odds were completely against him. I have a full time job with benefits & vacation again & there is strong security in that when things are uncertain for so many others. I closed the door to a dysfunctional relationship and opened another to one that has been the most balanced and healthy five months I have had in a long time. I am one of a core group of six friends that are some of the most earnest and genuine people I have ever known. Life is good & for that I give thanks to the universe for listening when I asked.

  • First Snow 2008

Went to the humane society X-mas dinner tonight

& when I got home the deck looked like it had been dusted with

powdered sugar! Might not look like much to some of you but

sometimes in Texas this is the only snow we will see all winter!
